Jessica M. Johnson MSW, CYT 500
Owner of Mattawan Yoga

Yoga and Meditation teacher/trainer with 22 years of experience. She's a gifted Astrologer and Yoga Studio Owner. She opened Mattawan Yoga in 2016, is head assistant trainer under Karina Mirsky at Sangha Yoga Institute of Higher Learning, and is training with Elise Browning Miller to become a Yoga for Scoliosis Teacher. Jessica has assisted Ravi Singh's Kundalini Yoga 200/300 hour Evolution/Revolution. Jessica holds a Bachelor's in Psychology and a Master of Social Work both from WMU. Her classes and retreats provide a non-judgmental atmosphere where she shares her knowledge of Yoga, Astrology, Martial Arts, Reiki, and Psychology to heal the body and mind while connecting with spirit. Jessica has a passion for teaching modifications for all types of people due to her personal experience with scoliosis. Jessica's available for fabulous yoga and astrology retreats. 

Sarah Plucinski   Kids Yoga Teacher

Sarah Plucinski discovered yoga before she moved to San Diego in 2009. In fact, she envisioned a life of yoga in the sunshine and morning jogs on the boardwalk. It was her vision that moved her across the country from a small town in Michigan to America's Finest City. 

 

Sarah practices yoga to help her stay present and calm. Before starting to practice yoga regularly she found herself anxious, stressed and lacking confidence. With regular breathing exercises, stretching and practicing yoga poses Sarah has found a peace of mind that she hadn't experienced before. 

 

Having such a life changing experience by introducing yoga into her life motivated Sarah to learn to teach children these practices. Sarah trained with Tiffany Gullberg at If I Was A Bird Yoga, located in San Diego. She found that yoga for children is a fun and active experience that offers children a chance to be creative while practicing movement that helps them become mindful of their bodies. Since her training she has lead children's yoga classes in several San Diego schools and at various children's events.

Brian Alan  - Reiki Master, Sound Healer, Spiritual Counselor

A Life-long seeker and realizer of Truth, Brian Alan has been Called to embody and live-out Spiritual Principles in daily life…and out of this, been Moved into the realm of Healing, in the form of assisting others (via Holy Spirit Ministry) in all facets of their everyday living: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.

In a Sound Therapy session, a combination of Sacred Healing Instruments will be used to facilitate healing, and enhance One’s consciousness and state-of-being, by harmonizing the body, mind, and spirit back to it’s natural state of balance and alignment…Sound Body, Sound Mind, Sound Spirit.  Instruments that may be used are: Crystal and Tibetan (metal) Singing Bowls, Gong, Chimes, Drums, Rattles, Tuning Forks, and Vocal Toning and/or Chanting.

Denise Miller RYT 200

Denise began studying yoga in the late ‘80s (Hatha, Iyengar, and ParaYoga). Since graduating from the Sangha Yoga Institute, she has developed a passion for making yoga and meditation accessible to everyone, regardless of skill level, body shape/type, or financial resources. To that end, she started teaching yoga in 2016 at a senior apartment complex in Otsego. In 2017 she launched a twice-weekly meditation and mindfulness program at her employer’s company, teaming up with a fellow yoga teacher to serve as meditation resources for their 1500 fellow colleagues. Denise has taught yoga and meditation at the library in Plainwell where she lives, and can be contacted for private sessions and special engagements. Denise is collaborating with a fellow Sangha graduate to offer yoga and meditation on Sundays at the Vine Neighborhood Association in Kalamazoo this fall! Denise crafts thoughtful, intelligent sequences that promote wellness, mindfulness, and health on all levels. Join her for physically and emotionally safe classes where you can begin or continue your yogic path to reduced suffering. (According to the Yoga Sutras, one of the two goals of yoga is to reduce suffering, aka reduce stress.)

Briana Asmus PhD
Certified Balance Body Instructor

Briana taught ballet and hip hop to all ages for 15 years, and came to pilates in 2012. She has taught reformer, mat, and barre classes locally and is certified by Balanced Body in these areas. She is also an Assistant Professor of Education at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, MI.
